If you\u2019re thinking about buying this watch, this review should help.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Note:<\/strong> this version of the Khaki Field has been discontinued, but it&#8217;s still available on the pre-owned and grey market.<\/em><\/p>\n<h2>Hamilton Khaki Field Officer Mechanical Watch<\/h2>\n<p>First of all, this watch has a few different names. This isn&#8217;t an issue for most people, but if you have very thin wrists (say, less than 6.25&#8243; inches around), you might experience some lug overhang.<\/p>\n<h2>Why I Love This Watch<\/h2>\n<p>I love the simple, casual, functional nature of field watches. It&#8217;s 38 mm in diameter and under 10 mm thick, which is perfect for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.themodestman.com\/small-automatic-watches\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-lasso-id=\"4123\">small or average sized wrists<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>One reason I chose this hand winding version over its automatic big brother is the thickness. Both watches are 38 mm in diameter, but this simple manually wound movement is very thin.<\/p>\n<p>That means this watch slides neatly under any shirt cuff, almost like a dress watch. I think this watch offers a ton of value for the price. It\u2019s a Swiss made watch from a company with plenty of heritage.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.themodestman.com\/best-hamilton-watches\/\" data-lasso-id=\"13344\">Hamilton<\/a> was originally founded in Lancaster, PA, not too far from where I grew up. The company made a name for itself with super accurate pocket watches for the railroad industry.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>During WWII, Hamilton provided hundreds of thousands of watches to American soldiers. Their field watches &#8211; like this one &#8211; are still some of their most popular models.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>In the 1970s, Hamilton was bought by the Swatch Group, a giant Swiss watch company that owns brands like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.themodestman.com\/entry-level-omega-watches\/\" data-lasso-id=\"22685\">Omega<\/a>, Longines and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.themodestman.com\/best-tissot-watches\/\" data-lasso-id=\"22686\">Tissot<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>So they have this American heritage, even though they\u2019re technically Swiss watches. All rights reserved.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>I\u2019m not in love with the color of this strap, but it has broken in very nicely, and it feels great on the wrist.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, you could put it on a leather strap or NATO, and I think black is nice choice (regardless of which type of strap you choose).<\/p>\n<h2>What I Don&#8217;t Like<\/h2>\n<p>In case you can\u2019t tell, I love this watch, but there are some things I don\u2019t like about it.<\/p>\n<p>First and foremost, I wish it was more resistant to water. The large crown makes winding and setting this watch a breeze, but in my opinion, it looks a little too big for the case.<\/p>\n<p>Compare it to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.themodestman.com\/seiko-snk809-review\/\" data-lasso-id=\"22688\">Seiko SNK809<\/a>, for example.
