Their streamlined, handsome looks work with many outfits, and the style is classic. I\u2019ve compared several pairs of minimal leather <keyword data-keyword-id=\"54678\">sneakers<\/keyword>, but I haven\u2019t done a full-on review of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.koio.co\/products\/capri-triple-white-mens?variant=41706743103657\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-lasso-id=\"568588\">Koio Capri<\/a> \u2014 one of my favorites \u2014 as of yet. Koio manufactures all of its <keyword data-keyword-id=\"54680\">sneakers<\/keyword> in Marche, Italy. When I say \u201call,\u201d I mean every bit. From the leather and soles down to the shoe boxes, everything comes from the region surrounding Marche.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Each pair of shoes is hand-finished, so the brand prides itself on the craftspeople it employs, as well as how it treats them. Values like \u201ccompetitive wages, fair working hours, and a community-oriented working environment\u201d matter, according to the Koio website. Does all that pinch the profit margin a bit? Sure. I will go into this in-depth later in this review but they run big. If you wear a 7 or smaller you may want to consider buying the women\u2019s version of this shoe. It\u2019s the same exact thing, just smaller. If you\u2019re unsure of sizing, check out their size chart, especially since their only brick-and-mortar store is in the SoHo neighborhood of New York City.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Koio has a fair exchange and return policy. The brand offers one free exchange, provided you return the item within 14 days of delivery. For returns, if you opt for store credit, Koio will waive the $9.95 shipping fee. It has a luxurious feel and a very pleasing silhouette. It\u2019s a slim, low-profile sneaker with a clean design. These <keyword data-keyword-id=\"54681\">sneakers<\/keyword> have a classic look that will stay in style for as long as you own them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Capri\u2019s upper features full-grain chrome-tanned leather sourced from the Marche region in Italy. It also features Margom outsoles, which are some of the best quality outsoles you can put on a sneaker. Not only are these shoes the product of two top-quality materials, but Koio actually stitches the soles to the leather \u2013 as you might see in a boot or dress shoe \u2014 a massive improvement over <keyword data-keyword-id=\"54682\">sneakers<\/keyword> with glued soles. The small details that matter so much with minimal <keyword data-keyword-id=\"54683\">sneakers<\/keyword> are the Koio&#8217;s nice, subdued touches and features. The tongue is pretty thin, and the lace loop helps keep it in place.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Capri\u2019s branding is pretty low-key. It has an embossed Koio logo on the tongue and an embossed wordmark on the heel. Right out of the box, the leather felt soft and luxurious, and there wasn&#8217;t much of a break-in period to deal with. All rights reserved.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Style is great, but if a pair of shoes isn\u2019t comfortable or doesn\u2019t fit well, you\u2019re not going to wear them. Typically, leather <keyword data-keyword-id=\"54684\">sneakers<\/keyword> require a break-in period to loosen up and take the shape of your foot. This period can be uncomfortable, and you might experience some blisters on your heels or around your ankles. The <keyword data-keyword-id=\"54685\">sneakers<\/keyword> might even squeak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019m happy to say that I didn\u2019t experience any squeaking with the Capris. Right out of the box, the leather felt soft and luxurious, and there wasn\u2019t much of a break-in period to deal with. I didn\u2019t experience any blisters, and I think that\u2019s mostly due to the plush leather lining around the collar and on the tongue.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Achieving the perfect fit did require a bit of a workaround, though. I usually wear a size 7 in dress shoes and <keyword data-keyword-id=\"54686\">sneakers<\/keyword>, but Koio\u2019s size 7 felt too large for my foot. The issue is that men\u2019s sizing only goes down to 7. Luckily, the Capri is a unisex shoe. I went over to the women\u2019s side of the site and purchased a size 8. Depending on sales and timing, the Capri costs between $245 and $345. Yes, that\u2019s a lot of money for a sneaker, but it pales in comparison to other minimal leather <keyword data-keyword-id=\"54687\">sneakers<\/keyword> like the Common Projects Achilles. The soft leather, suede lining, and stitched Margom soles give it a premium look and feel. If you take care of the Capri, it\u2019s going to age well. Not only will the full-grain leather patina nicely, but its simple, clean aesthetic isn\u2019t going to fall out of style anytime soon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-cons\">Cons<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The sizing is somewhat of an issue. The Capri runs large, and I couldn\u2019t find a size in the men\u2019s section that would fit. It\u2019s not a big deal for me, but some guys won\u2019t purchase a shoe from the women\u2019s section \u2014 even though it\u2019s the same shoe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The big issue I have with the Capri is the leather. I haven\u2019t mentioned it yet because it needs some focus and explanation. Koio makes the Capri with \u201cVitello calf leather,\u201d which is proudly listed all over the site. The thing is, it\u2019s not calf leather.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My friend Nick from <a href=\"https:\/\/stridewise.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-lasso-id=\"568591\">Stridewise<\/a> dug into this and found that the leather used is actually from mature cows \u2014 a byproduct of the meat industry. They call it \u201ccalf leather\u201d because it\u2019s soft and has a fine grain, which are characteristics of that leather. I even asked a rep about the leather, which they confirmed is from calves. To the rep\u2019s credit, they did admit they were wrong when I showed them Nick\u2019s review.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Personally, I don\u2019t care which leather it\u2019s made of, but they should be a little less misleading about it.
